With this in mind, Dog sledding is a natural fit for a team building program. The relationships and teamwork that develop with a dog team can offer intriguing insights into relationships and teamwork in many other settings and are the same skills that make successful sport and work teams. Mobile (School) Presentations

Mad Dogs & Englishmen are available for a dog sledding demonstrations at schools, parties or other gatherings. Our mobile program includes a set up with our dog truck, different sledding equipment and of course some of our fury friends.

We can first meet in a classroom setting and do a short presentation or do the presentation outdoors. We would discuss the various northern breeds and their differences, care and feeding, training, sleds and sled construction, lines and harnesses, team positions, ski joring, command training, fitness training, and the history of dog sledding and it's origins.

After the the presentation, the group would then get a chance to meet the dogs themselves and try out some of the equipment we have brought along.

For groups with children, we can organize a human dogsled race, where a toboggan sled is rigged up with gang lines that allow the kids to pull and pretend they are the dogs with one child dressed up as a musher on the sled. The kids then race to a pylon and back.

It is not usually possible to provide dog sled rides for a unless you have a good trail that we can use but the human dogsled race gives the children an opportunity to be active outside and see what it is like to work as a team as the dogs have to do. The dogs just love watching someone else do the work while they hang out and observe.

You would need a min of 1 hour of time for the Presentation and outdoor viewing with usually and other half hour to do the race. These programs can customized to fit your specific needs or age groups. As we can only take a maximum of 15 students to the dog truck at a time, larger groups would have to be split into groups with one group at the truck while the other does the presentation and then switch.
